Economics of Marriage Nowadays, marriage is hardly a new subject of discussion and is found in every human society. Any marriage involves two individuals each of whom has their own experience of that marriage. Nowadays, the roles and expectations that the families have to fulfill are distributed evenly among the members of the family. What this means is that mothers, who were identified in the past as household wives (since they were responsible with cleaning, cooking and raising children) are granted with more rights such as the right to participate in a voting process or the right to get a job. As oppose to mothers, fathers have always been mainly responsible with working hard to support their families because in most of the situations, they were the main financial providers. As a result, they had to bring money to their families by any means even if that meant getting more than one job. This situation became much more problematic when children appeared in the families. As we all know, children had and will always play an extremely important role and raising them is a big responsibility for thei r parents. Having children and only one member of the family (for instance the father) working is a familiar situation for most families. In this case, the father has to be more realistic than ever that his family relies on his financial support. He has to make sure that his family has the necessary supplies to survive. If this situation is not being resolved due to various reasons such as the husband does not earn enough money or just simply refuses to contribute financially, conflicts and issues may arise which often lead to family separations, and thus, poor living conditions and even death from malnutrition. This is exactly the situation that parents have to avoid. They have to be more responsible and realistic of their own actions, and take the decisions that are in the best interest of the family, the right decisions. These types of marriages are called emotional and financial support marriages. Another type of marriages that are very common nowadays and very numerous on a wide scale are the economic marriages. Economic marriages are essentially those kind of marriages in which money play a tremendous role in the lives of one or more couples. This is often a situation in which one or even both individuals involved in marriage have an unconditional desire and hunger for money.

Throughout history women have not always been treated with equality, this inequality is also shown in prehistory. The Paleolithic and Neolithic eras contrast when it comes to gender inequality or gender equality. In Paleolithic times, Women easily had a greater amount of equality and not so much of that equality in Neolithic times. In Paleolithic times, women were the ones who invented and began the use of farming and agriculture, without this great source of food, humans may have not been able to settle as easily, and the Neolithic times would have never began. The men and women had equally important jobs in their groups or tribes, for this, they were able to survive. In the Neolithic times, women had a much lesser role, and less of a say when it came to leadership. This particular law in The Code of Hammurabi showcases the inequality of genders in Neolithic times â€Å"110. If a sister of god open a tavern, or enter a tavern to drink,then shall this woman be burned to death† Such a small act of disobedience by a woman in the Neolithic era left a big punishment. This law gives proof that if a man were to do the same thing, he would not be punished as harshly (or even at all) as a woman would be in this era. In Paleolithic times, equality was shown between genders and to counteract this, in Neolithic times, inequality was shown between genders. Women began to lose less of their leadership or power that they shared with the men in the Paleolithic times.

Ancient Egypt (3000 BCE – 30 BCE) and Ancient Greece (1200 BCE – 146 BCE) based their entire lives around their religious beliefs. These beliefs led to their religious practices which were included in every aspect of their lives. In the process of elimination, the terms appearing in the equation are rearranged so as to gather like terms together, i.e. those in which the same unknown constant or variable appears (to the same power). This shows which terms can then be combined to produce a single simplified term or else eliminated altogether, and it should make the equation easier to solve. In the process of substitution, another variable is temporarily introduced into the equation. Usually, this is to represent a complex expression or to help transform the equation into another type, again to make it easier to solve. These two methods of elimina tion and substitution are algebraic methods. Alternatively, the equation, which may still need to be simplified first, can be graphed to enable the required values to be read or determined visually.Elimination is usually the simplest and quickest of the three methods and it suffices in many cases to solve any system of equation. In some complex cases however, it may not be clear whether elimination can even be made or not and this process alone becomes insufficient to solve the equations. Substitution can be seen as a relatively more complex procedure because of the use of an additional variable. This method requires extra decision making and steps to not only equate the new variable with an expression involving one or more of the original variables, but also to reconvert back to find the values of the original variables. Besides, it would be unnecessary if the equation is simple and for which the elimination method can be used instead. However, it has the potential advantage of bei ng a convenient method to quickly make the system of equations appear to be easier to handle in which the new substituted variable(s) has been used.Graphical methods make the task easier to understand visually. In some cases, as with quadratic equations, it can show whether a solution is even possible i.e. whether the roots do or do not exist. In 1968 it reached its peak value. Since then the value has fallen thirty percent, so that todays minimum wage of $5.15 is equal to $4.18 which is equivalent to the value in 1995 (women, 4). Some states have decided to raise the minimum wage above $5.15 an hour even though the senate ultimately sets the minimum wage. There was a push to raise the minimum wage two dollars in the next two years. The average yearly income for a person who works minimum wage is around $19,000. In the United States there are over 1.6 million minimum wage workers. Fifty-three percent of minimum wage workers are high school, or college students, seventeen percent are the retired, and thirty percent being unskilled workers. Because the minimum wage is not enough for most people to live on, in 1994 local union leaders and activists have helped to pass more than 100 living wage ordinances. A living wage is designed to help low wage workers and their families to live above the poverty level They have decided on minimum wage on different things but they are looking to increase it since minimum wage workers that make up a family of three are making $5000 below the poverty line. There are some positive aspects to raising the minimum wage. Bernstein and Schmitt from the Economic Institute in Washington, D.C. studied the effects of raising the minimum wage in 1996-1997 from $4.25 to $5.15 found the following: 1. Nearly ten million workers or 8.9% of all people with jobs benefited from the full increase to $5.15. 2. Most of these workers were adults (71%) and females (58%). 3. Close to half (46%) up to beneficiaries work full time and another third work twenty to thirty-four hours per week. 4. The average minimum wage worker brought home more than half (54%) of his or her familys weekly earnings. 5. The increase primarily benefits the working poor 35% goes to the poorest working households and 58% goes to the lower 40% of working households. The report issued by New Orleans looked at three separate family situations to measure the benefits of the minimum wage raise, the first is a family with one working adult and one child; family with two adults and two children, including one adult with a paying job; a family with two adults and two children, but with both adults holding paying jobs. All three families had an increase in there gross income but there disposable (how much could actually be spent) income did not increase a lot. This was because all families got support from federal Food Stamps and Earned Income Tax programs.
